About us

What is House Of Prayer International?

House of Prayer International is a religious organization founded on the principle which God established upon mount sinai through the hands of his servant, Moses. He got the name through a revelation from the bible "And as he taught them, he said, "Is it not written: " 'My house will be called a House of Prayer for all Nations' (Mark 11:17a)".House of prayer was founded in Nigeria on May 29,1966 by the divine intervention of God through His Servant,Most Rev.Jude Peter Oguaju, who was our Kohen Gadol and the General Overseer until his demise. Then, the mantle of leadership fell on Rev. John J P Oguaju, who is now at the helm of the leadership of our Community.

What is our belief?
Our belief is firmly rooted upon the word of God written in the Book of Deuteronomy 6:4, which states, "Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord."
This makes us believer in all the words that proceed out of the mouth of God, and we strongly advocate that nothing shall be added to it nor anything subtracted from it, because, God's words are eternal, and His covenant can never be altered. Contrary to popular teachings in the world today, we believe that the word of God can never be "passed away," "nailed to the Cross", "abrogated", "finished", neither is it impossible for "human observance and compliance".
Everything that He has spoken, is a welcome revelation throughout the generations of our believe. After all, God is the "Ancient of Days" and the "Very Rock of Ages," more still, He is the "Unchangeable God."

When do we congregate?
We congregate on the seventh [7th]day of every week; which begins at the sunset of every Friday and ends at the sunset ofSaturday,to celebrate the Sabbath of the Lord our God as he commanded in the heart of the Ten Commandments [see Exodus 20:8-11]. The activities of this day are split into two: The Friday Sabbath Lecture, and the Saturday Sabbath Worship. We also congregate for the mid-week prayers held every Wednesday. We also hold other exciting activities like midnight prayers, counselling, youth fellowship, etc. Details of these vary from synagogue to synagogue. You can contact any synagogues nearest to you for details on when these activities are held.

What do we celebrate?

House of Prayer International celebrates all festivals of God as recorded in Leviticus 23. However, the lord commands that we must appear before Him three(3) times in a year in a place where He had chosen in our generation [see Deuteronomy 16:16] which are the Passover, the Pentecost, and Terbanacle, and these are calculated based on the appearance of the New Moon. We also observe the four fast days, which are the Fast of the Fourth Month, the Fast of the Fifth Month, the Fast of the Seventh Month, and the Fast of the Tenth Month as recorded in the Book of Zechariah 8:18-19.
